The inaugural 2022 SACNAS Postdoc Cohort Program (SPCP) is our effort to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for postdocs in a similar career-stage. SPCP participants will have an opportunity to network, share resources, insights, gain a community, AND participate in seminars relevant to their current career stage (new postdoc) for an entire year.

Eligibility

  • Must be a new postdoc (someone who is about to start a postdoc or started their postdoc position less than 6 months ago) 
  • Postdoc position can be in either academia or industry 
  • Must be a SACNAS dues paying member
  • Must adhere to the SACNAS Code of Conduct

NSF and SACNAS are excited to host a fully funded workshop on Grant Writing and Peer Review for early career scientists! Participants of this workshop will learn to critique grant proposals as well as how to develop their own with the guidance of peers and advisors.

Application Requirements

Application requirements: Must be advanced graduate students, postdoc, or early career professionals interested in submitting grant proposals to NSF under BIO or EHR directorates. We are accepting applications from all applicants across the U.S, however, applicants that study and/or reside in the West Coast (Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington) will be given priority to attend the workshop.

Eligibility

  • Applicants should be advanced graduate students, postdocs or early career professionals who are interested in submitting a grant proposal to either the Biological Sciences (BIO) or Education and Human resources (EHR) directorates at NSF. This inaugural program is open to all applicants but west coast participants will be given priority.

Provides opportunities for women to establish careers and break the cycle of poverty. Created for low-income women, age 35 and older, who can demonstrate a vision of how an education can benefit themselves, their communities, and their families.

  • $2,000 grants

eligibility

An applicant for a JRF Scholarship must be:

  • Identify as a women, age 35 or older
  • Financial need (based on income guidelines on website)
  • A U.S. citizen or Permanent resident of the United States
  • Pursuing a technical or vocational education, an associate’s degree, or a first  bachelor’s degree
  • Enrolled in or participated to a non-for-profit, regionally accredited institution
